Performing Australia’s First-Ever Live Tele-Surgery at RACS 2026 A Historic Moment

At the RACS Annual Scientific Congress 2026, I had the honor of achieving a significant milestone in global surgical innovation. I became the first international surgeon to be granted a license to operate in Australia during a scientific conference, an achievement that reflects both surgical advancement and the growing trust in technology-driven healthcare.

During the congress, I successfully performed Australia’s first-ever live tele-surgery. Operating remotely from the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, I conducted the procedure on a patient located in India at my center in Indore. This experience was not only technically fulfilling but also deeply meaningful, as it demonstrated how distance is no longer a limitation in delivering high-quality surgical care.

The procedure was performed using the advanced SSI Mantra robotic platform, which enabled seamless precision, control, and real-time connectivity. It reaffirmed my belief that the future of surgery lies in integrating innovation with expertise to ensure better patient outcomes across geographies.

The RACS Annual Scientific Congress 2026, held from April 30 to May 3 in Perth, brought together some of the brightest minds in surgery, research, and healthcare innovation. The theme, “The Art and Science of Collaboration,” truly resonated through this achievement, as it highlighted the power of global partnerships and technological progress.

This milestone is not just a personal achievement, but a step forward in redefining surgical care. It represents a future where advanced expertise can reach patients anywhere in the world, breaking barriers and improving access to quality healthcare.
